EIS Mission Statement

Excellence in Sportsmanship (EIS) is a nonprofit corporation (501c(3)) operated by a volunteer Board of Directors, who represent “Referees Who Care about the Future of Mutual Respect in Sport and in Life.” Since 1990, its first purpose has been to identify and publicly recognize Central Ohio girl and boy varsity high-school soccer players who, by example during matches, portray and foster the ideals of fair play, civility, integrity and respect for opponents, teammates, and officials, win, lose, or draw. Players are identified by referees based solely on their attitude and behavior during matches, which precludes biases based on cultural or socioeconomic factors. The second purpose is to promote the ideals of sportsmanship and leadership these student-athletes demonstrate through raising funds for scholarships to lessen, albeit in a small way, the ever-increasing high costs of post-high-school education and honor their families and them at  annual awards banquets. Whether they continue in soccer or other endeavors after collegiate or vocational education, including after military service, these model citizens, as well as the coaches and parents who inspired their civil and respectful conduct, must be recognized and supported because they represent our future leaders.

2025 Excellence in Sportsmanship Awards Dinner

Date: Sunday, February 2, 2025
Time: Social Hour at 5:00PM, Dinner Begins at 6:00 PM

Location: The Golf Club at Dublin, 5805 Eiterman Rd, Dublin, OH 43016

The evening begins with a social hour and cash bar at 5:00 p.m., dinner to be served at 6:00 p.m., followed by the keynote speaker for the evening.  After dinner we will honor special players, coaches and teams who have demonstrated sportsmanship and leadership on the field.  Other activities for the evening include goods to be sold from vendors such as Official Sports, Referee, Diadora, Soccer Plus, NAPA, etc., as well as a silent auction, a 50/50 drawing and raffle, with all proceeds supporting the operations of the Excellence in Sportsmanship Corporation.
Please join us to help celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the activities of the Excellence in Sportsmanship Corporation. Attendance at the awards dinner is open to anyone.  A reservation is required and payment will not be available at the door, so make your reservation now!  Check-in is at the door; the atmosphere is casual, the parking is free and the food is always good, so plan to attend with family and friends!

EIS and Kroger Community Rewards

Excellence in Sportsmanship for Central Ohio Soccer (EIS) has joined the Kroger Community Rewards Program. As a qualified not-for-profit charitable organization, EIS is eligible to receive contributions from Kroger to fund our scholarship program. Kroger contributes to eligible organizations based on customer designation and use of the Kroger Plus Card at checkout. 
There is no cost or obligation to referees or friends to enroll in Kroger Community Rewards. Please sign up and encourage those that you know to support EIS through Kroger rewards.


Save the Date - EIS Summer Soccer Showcase July 18-20, 2025

Proceeds benefit the operations of the Excellence In Sportsmanship Committee.
E.I.S. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which awards post-secondary education scholarships to high school soccer players who have demonstrated good sportsmanship.
An EIS scholarship will be awarded to one male player and to one female player who participates in the tournament.

EIS Nominations for Players, Coaches and Teams

Soccer Referees and Coaches can nominate a player, coach or team that has demonstrated Good Sportsmanship in a regular season OHSAA Central District H.S. Varsity soccer match.
At the conclusion of the soccer season, all registered Central District referees are given the opportunity to select from among the nominees of players, coaches and teams that are the best of the best when it comes to Good Sportsmanship.
​The top vote getting players receive monetary post-secondary educational scholarships. 
The top voting getting players, coaches and teams are honored at the EIS Awards Banquet. 
A Survey Monkey form will be provided to nominate players, coaches and teams that have demonstrated Good Sportsmanship during the Fall 2025 soccer season during OHSAA Central District H.S. Varsity soccer matches.
Nominations for the Fall 2024 Season ended on October 22, 2024.
